Matt started working in the exhibitions industry in a marketing and design capacity whilst at school and throughout university was with News International Exhibitions.

In 1998 he joined dmg world media as Head of Marketing – UK Consumer Shows, and looked after the Daily Mail Ideal Home Shows and Ski and Snowboard Shows. On leaving dmg in 2003 he became Marketing Director at Turret RAI and XPO Group, where he ran Apple Computer exhibitions across Europe and launched events for Nikon, Adobe and Quark. In 2006 Matt became UK Group Events Director for Expomedia Group plc and ran the UK events business where he oversaw the integration of acquired events into the portfolio. In 2008 Matt moved to Dubai as Commercial Director for Turret Middle East, responsible for business development and acquisitions & sales, including the purchase and subsequent sale of Tawdheef the Abu Dhabi Emiratization event.

In December 2010 Matt joined dmg events Middle East and Asia as Vice President running the construction portfolio that includes the region’s largest construction event, the Big 5. In four years ending as Senior Vice President he oversaw the portfolio grow from two events to fifteen, completed two acquisitions adding a further seven events and two publications and saw revenues rise from $22m to over $50m. Core to this growth was the geo-cloning of the Big 5 construction brand into Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, India, and Indonesia and the introduction of the five vertical events to the market.

In 2015 Matt moved to dmg’s US operation as President of dmg events usa and the dmg events digital marketing global portfolio with offices in the US, Japan, UK, Australia, New Zealand and India. There, Matt was heavily involved in the sale of this portfolio of events to Comexposium.

In January 2016 Matt returned to Dubai as President of dmg events Middle East Asia and Africa.
